i think a big part of why we form close family bonds, friends, and relationships is because we get something out of each. we are motivated by intrinsic and extrinsic rewards.
families provide security. friends provide a sense of belonging. relationships provide companionship. they all provide looooove.
I think you're totally right. It's love. If we are pursuing relationships or friendships then we are pursuing that potential. Maybe that is why we invest and risk so much and usually at one time or another feel let down. There is no doubt that we are born with this need.
